Top 5 Reference Apps on iOS in Europe Q2 2024

In the second quarter of 2024, the performance of the top 5 reference apps on the iOS platform in Europe displayed a range of trends in downloads and active users, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Google Translate saw a consistent increase in weekly downloads. Starting at approximately 146K downloads in early April, the app peaked at around 160K in mid-April and ended the quarter with a strong 157K downloads in the last week of June. The app maintained a robust user base with weekly active users fluctuating slightly but generally remaining above 10M throughout the quarter.

e-Devlet experienced significant variability in its weekly downloads. The app started the quarter with a high of about 131K downloads, followed by a sharp decline to 42K in the second week of April. Downloads then stabilized, averaging around 70K to 80K for the remainder of the quarter. Active users also showed some fluctuations, peaking at approximately 1.5M in the final week of June.

DeepL: translate & write exhibited a steady trend in downloads, with numbers increasing from around 62K in early April to a peak of 84K in mid-April. The app ended the quarter with approximately 58K downloads. Weekly active users for DeepL remained relatively stable, hovering around 1M throughout the quarter.

Merlin Bird ID by Cornell Lab showed impressive growth in downloads, particularly in early May when it reached a peak of about 97K downloads. The app maintained a healthy number of weekly active users, starting at around 106K in early April and rising to nearly 165K by the end of June.

Lastly, the Bible app demonstrated consistent performance in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads remained steady around 30K, while active users fluctuated slightly but stayed around the 1.2M mark throughout the quarter.
